4-9-25 THOUGHTS
My day, my month, my life... ME! Don’t I need a larger PERSPECTIVE than this? Ps 78:6 “That the generation to come might know, even the children yet to be born, That they may arise and tell them to their children.” The text says a “prepared heart" and a “faithful spirit” are required. In verse 4, how could I “conceal” the needed information? Heb 2:3a “how will we escape if we neglect so great a salvation?” It’s a rhetorical question... we won’t! Jer 10:23-24a “I know, O LORD, that a man’s way is not in himself, Nor is it in a man who walks to direct his steps. 24 Correct me, O LORD,..”
Ps 78:1-8 Listen, O my people, to my instruction; Incline your ears to the words of my mouth. 2 I will open my mouth in a parable; I will utter dark sayings of old, 3 Which we have heard and known, And our fathers have told us. 4 We will not conceal them from their children, But tell to the generation to come the praises of the LORD, And His strength and His wondrous works that He has done. 5 For He established a testimony in Jacob And appointed a law in Israel, Which He commanded our fathers That they should teach them to their children, 6 That the generation to come might know, even the children yet to be born, That they may arise and tell them to their children, 7 That they should put their confidence in God And not forget the works of God, But keep His commandments, 8 And not be like their fathers, A stubborn and rebellious generation, A generation that did not prepare its heart And whose spirit was not faithful to God.
My Prayer:
Lord God, give us a proper perspective on eternity, and direct us in right ways. Help us to see ourselves in the Church as part of a multi-generational effort to bring souls to Christ. Take us from plodding to influencing and affecting. Help us to put our confidence totally in You, our Awesome God! Keep our minds and prayers on souls yet to be born! We thank You and exalt Your great name. In the name of the One who saves us, Amen!
